| Non-resident Goans’ reunion on January 19

Panaji, Jan 15 : The World Alliance of Goan Overseas
Association in collaboration with Indology Goa and Freedom Holiday
(P) Ltd, Goa will organise Non- Resident Goans’ Re-union Nite at
Mandovi Riveira, Panaji on January 19.
Going into the details of the function, general secretary of
the association, Mr Tony Colaco said the main purpose of the
function is to popularise and promote Goan cuisine, tradition and
culture besides finding social issues in the Goan society and
resolving them.
Mr Colaco said that apart from protecting heritage buildings
and tradition the association is interested in sustainable economic
growth of Goa and Goans. He however refused to speak on the SEZ
controversy.
He said all Goans abroad have their heart very much in Goa
and want to keep ties with their brethren back home.
The WAGOA is a parent body of all non resident Goans settled
world wide. “We still call Goa home,” is the theme of the grand
inaugural entertainment nite where all resident and NRI Goans will
come together, he said.
Dr Eduardo Faleiro, the NRI commission will be the chief
guest and Mr J P Singh will be the guest of honour. Band `Forefront’
will be in attendance.
Indology Goa will announce their worldwide campaign to
promote Goan Culture and culinary art. WAGOA has plans to organize a
week long festival at different venues all over the world during the
year with the support of Goan Associations of the respective
countries.
Culinary experts and artists from the state would be
travelling all over the world with the representatives for promotion
of Goan culture, he said. Freedom Holiday (p) Limited would also
announce the launching of their Goa base airline catering to the
needs of the Goans and tourists visiting Goa.
Mr Colaco has appealed to the Goans to attend this event and
express their solidarity with the efforts.
